Week 7 recap

Students participated in the first week of Cooking an​d Music​ camp!

Students participated in Cooking and Nutrition classes ​with Local Matters. They learned to make yogurt fruit & ​granola parfait bowls one day one, and veggie and ​hummus wraps on day two. Students learned how to cut ​fruits and veggies properly, what the ‘My Plate’ is and all ​the healthy food groups needed for a balanced diet - the ​details of what fruits/veggies/proteins/grains/and dairy ​provide to people (vitamins, mineral, fiber, sugars, muscle ​support, and more), the value of whole foods over ​processed foods, and the value of trying new foods.

Columbus Police Officers came with their canine friend to ​discuss safety with the kids!

Quest Store

Students earned Quest Dollars throughout the week based ​on respectful behavior. At the end of the week, students ​visited our Quest Store and bought prizes with their Quest ​Dollars.

MUSIC CAMP!

Students learned how to play Hand Drums ​with Chase Hurlow. They learned about ​tempo, rhythm, different drum hits and ​the sounds they make, and how to create ​music with a group. They also had a ​session with Celeste Leffler where they ​participated in basic strumming and ​chord practice with the ukulele and ​learned how to play “Happy Birthday”. In ​the voice workshop with Peniel Cromwell, ​students learned how to do song writing ​and connect word sounds with rhythm.

RECREATION/SPORTS AT BIG RUN GYM ​COMPLEX


Students developed volleyball skills and team ​playing along with free play choice which ​included student made games and basketball.

Students were provided smoothies, fruit, granola ​bars, samosas, chicken nuggets, chicken & rice, ​and salad.
