MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Week 6 recap

Students participated in the second week of Tech ca​mp!

Coding bionic hands & ozobots!

Students programmed their bionic hands to do ASL ​(American Sign Language) and also got to try coding o​zobots. They had 2 teams that created a large path for t​heir ozobot and had a race between the two!

FIELD TRIP TO COSI!

Students visited:

  • The Color Exhibition (the science of color and how it ​interacts in every part of human life)
  • The Dinosaur Exhibit (various species and history of ​dinosaurs, fossils, models, etc..)
  • Oceans Exhibit (Water science)
  • Progress (History and time travel)
  • Planetarium show for the aurora lights
  • Life Exhibit (human body and anatomy)
  • Energy Exhibit (electricity, energy, and forms of it all)
  • Gadgets (all kinds of gadgets, all about physics)

Afterward, students discussed what they learned and ​what their favorite exhibits were.

Students were provided chobani ​smoothies, z bars, fruit, chicken ​sandwiches, cheeseburgers, rice with ​chicken, and salad. During lunch they also ​participated in structured play time where ​they got to play board games such as ​connect four, uno, matching games, jenga ​and magnetic building blocks.


Quest Store

Students earned Quest Dollars throughout ​the week based on respectful behavior. At ​the end of the week, students visited our ​Quest Store and bought prizes with their ​Quest Dollars.

RECREATION/SPORTS AT BIG RUN ​GYM COMPLEX


Students had free choice days and free play ​days where they made up their own games, ​interacted with each other, and got to ​choose larger group games to play. They ​also played Scramble which is a free for all ​dodgeball variation, every man for himself.
